My 1990 Nissan maxima is leaking transmission fluid and revs up when trying to go faster?

It sounds like it's slipping because of a low level of trans fluid. That can ruin the transmission real fast, don't do it. Make certain that you keep the trans fluid level up even if it is leaking. It could be a coolant tube that's leaking or it could be the front "main seal" or some other seal. If it's a seal, the trans probably has to come out to replace the seal. If you've run it much when it's slipping you've probably messed up the clutches and you may as well rebuild the transmission while you have it out for the seals.
