a can of wd40 might help you to grease the depending components up. as well the lock. if this does not work a handbook of the model does wonders since the steps are described there. auto shops have these. is it the lock or the door itself ? if the lock is the case you would have to take off the panels on the doors on the inside to be able to grease up/reach the stuck parts. the panels are usually attached to the door with plastic plugs. so you might use a screwdriver and not scratch your paint too hard and slip between the panel on the door and the door itself to find the points which is not hard to do and then pop them out, take it off and you can check on the inside of the door...... You have to remove the inside door panels. follow the door mechanism from the front to the back (You won't be able to see it at the back) What I did was to cut a small hole (1-2 inches) near the back of the door to be able to see the rod. I found that were the rod connects to an "L" shaped part the "L" was bent outwards (toward the outside of the door). By bending it back towards the inside of the door I was able to get the door open.
How do you open sliding door on a 1996 Ford Aerostar Van that will not disengage?
you have to remove the inside panels to get at the latch to open
On a 1996 Ford Aerostar : I believe if you open the drivers door , on the latch pillar , you will see an information sticker that shows the original size of tires on the vehicle from the factory
I have the same problem! I've seen this question several times and a user named "Sspencer69" gave this answer: "If it is stuck shut try this. I have a 1991 Aerostar that had the same problem. You have to remove the inside door panels. follow the door mechanism from the front to the back (You won't be able to see it at the back) What I did was to cut a small hole (1-2 inches) near the back of the door to be able to see the rod. there is 2 ways. 1) use the latch behind the drivers seat on the left 2) open the panel whare the jack is and there will be a pull cord in there somewhare that says fuel valve manual operation or something...pull it hard...the door will open
I had this just happen to me also...we had to take the door panel off on the inside and now have to move the mechanisim manually until I can get someone to replace the latch in the back of the slider door...it's a real pain in the butt...
2005 ford escape door handle inside and outside the suv will not open the door
On my 1995 Ford Explorer , to lower the underbody spare tire , I open the liftgate and the access hole is located above the rear bumper at the center of the bumper ( I assume your Ford Aerostar would be similar )
Use the key to open the door.
my 1993 and 1994 dosent have anyway of doing it!
could be that the door is open or one of the sensors says the door is open
If from the inside perhaps the child proof latch is engaged. Hope This Helps.
