My 93'' acclaim doesnt show the alternator belt route can you please show me a diagrram on how to install it?
its really simple... the belt goes around the crankshaft pulley, then it goes over the water pump and around the alternator.
loosen the one or two bolts holding the alternator in place, i believe 14mm, then loosen the 12mm on the adjuster (side) and "screw" the 12mm bolt down to lower the alternator down enough and replace the belt. This is almost the same for every Toyota engine which doesnt use an automatic belt tensioner (serpentine) on the alternator.

im having the same problem....a piercing screeching sound when u turn the car on or pull off from a red light. i waas told it was the alternator belt. either it needs to be tightened or loosened or even changed. then if that doesnt work it might be your tension that pulls the belt. so have your alternator belts checked. hope this is helpful!

89 prelude shut off while driving but started after jumped but didn't keep running for long it wasn't the alternator?
I've had that same problem. My first guess would be the alterator. but, save your self the trouble of taking it out by first taking your battery to an auto zone and let them test the cell for you, if your battery cell is bad, it doesnt matter how good your alternator is, it just wont hold a charge, period. if its not the battery, then its definitely the alternator. The alternator went out on my Celica as well, i was silly enough to leave the parking lights on all night, as i was driving at dusk and didnt see the need to have the headlights popped up. Basically there are 3 bolts that need to be taken off. There's one that holds the alternator in place, one that keeps it flush against the engine, and one on the bracket. (This is if i remember…

first you must loosen a 12mm bolt behind the pulley of the ac compressor, its a little tough to get to, but you can get it with an extended wrench, then loosen up the ac compressor bolt, pry it forward if it doesnt do it automatically, take your timing belt off, then go to your alternator bolt unerneath the alternator, loosen it rock it forward and pull off your belt, obviously reverse everything you just…
