Check or have them checked immediatley. They are going to fail REAL soon.
The brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced. The grinding sound means your brakes are about to stop working.
If you mean a "GRINDING" noise - then it sounds like the constant velocity joint (CV joint) may be failing -OR- if it only happens when you apply the brakes - the brake pad(s) need replacing.
Wheel shaking under braking can be caused by a warped rotor. A grinding noise when you turn can be a bad wheel bearing or worn brake pads. Either way you need to have your brakes and wheel bearings inspected immediately. This can be very dangerous. Any decent mechanic can find the problem and repair it.
Brakes could be bad, or wheel bearings too, des happen when u apply th brakes or just when is rolling? either way answer is probably around the tires
your brake pads are probley wore out so its grinding on your rotor
The real question is what kind of noise is it making when you brake. A pulsing type of noise could possibly just be the anti lock brakes working which would be more noticalbe in slippery conditions. A high pitched squealing type noise is probably the brake pads indicating the pads are in need of replacement, unless you just replaced them then it might be the type of pads you put on and the noise should go away after a couple days of driving. A grinding noise could mean your brake pads are to worn and grinding into your rotors causing a more expensive repair and if not taken care of soon enough your vehicle could become inoperable at any time while your trying to go somewhere.
1st thought is you need shims if the flywheel is hitting the starter. What is the year and model of the vehicle?
A 2003 Lexus with an intermittent grinding noise might mean that there is a tire rim rubbing on the brake disk. It could also mean that a tire is rubbing on a fender wall when turning.
Just go to a parking lot on a rainy day go above about 40 and slam on the brakes. If you skid you dont have antilock brakes, if you hear that grinding noise that kinda skips and you slow down but dont slid you do.
We would need to know where the noise was coming from and under what conditions it made the noise in order to make an assessment.
