Maybe you are seeing natural red rays in the fishes fins? If not then there is something wrong with the water. Change some (50%) water daily and see if the red markings disappear. Dont change all of the water.
A bloodfin is a South American characin - a variety of fish related to the carp, Latin name Aphyocharax anisitsi, which has a blood-red tail and fins.
it was blood
yes! yes they will. Red tailed sharks are very aggressive and territorial not to mention that they will go for the goldfish's long fines.
If your goldfish has red patches, is losing its tail and has a fin clamped shut, this could mean that it is sick. You should take it to a vet if possible.
it has finrot. change the water or buy medicine.
A goldfish that is healthy will swim around with their fins up and behave as you expect a fish to behave. When a fish is ill, it may spend all of it's time sitting on the bottom of the tank, they may have their fins clamped against their body, or they are surfacing at the top of the tank for air. There may also be other signs such as a problem floating upright, blood red streaks in their fins, fungus on their body, sores, or even torn fins just to name a few possibilities.
no it means that there very poorly and need lots of attention or flushed down the toilet
No. The only way to tell the difference between male and female goldfish visually is to observe them when they are in breeding season/condition. At this time the male fish develop white spots on their gill plates and pectoral fins. The females simply get more chubby as they fill up with ova (eggs)
anchor worm. the worm can be removed with tweezers and then the bloody spot dipped once with iodine or hydrogen peroxide on a cotton swab. and then daily application of neosporin cream until the redness has gone. if the whole tank is infected, buy anchors away from any good aquarium. the fins probably have finrot., you can get rid of it by changing the water & if that doesnt work, buy finrot medicine.:)
It means that something ripped their tails or fins, most likely the teeth of another fish.
If there are red marks or ulcers on the body this is due to a bacterial infection, most likely caused by dirty water. Torn fins can be due to a condition known as Fin rot disease. U can try treating the water with a Fin rot remedy, and get some anti-bacterial solutions to add to the water. Your pet shop should provide these.
It means your goldfish has a type of disease called herpes, and no, not the type you're thinking of. This is a type of herpes known only to goldfish. They get it when they have sex with a rock in their fish bowl. You should get your goldfish checked for herpes right away. You don't have to go to a vet though, just suck on it's fins and it should be fine. If it tastes like salt, then they're fine. But if it tastes like vinegar, your goldfish has herpes. Hope this information helped.
