Well, there must be a reason why your parents do not want you to hang out with this guy. Our parents are often very good judges of character, and do not overlook important things. They might think that this guy will be a bad influence on you. For instance he might smoke or be a drinker and these bad habits may rub off on you. Remember that although you are just friends, people judge us by the company that we keep, and we always tend to trust those closest to us. Therefore it becomes very easy for them to influence us positively or negatively. Have a candid conversation with your parents and question their motives. Keep in mind that they were once your age, and so they can sympathize with your situation. But they also want the best for you. I am sure once you confront your parents you will understand better and vice versa and hopefully you and your parents can find a middle ground.
