raise it securely on jack stands unscrew the filter then their is usually two bolts holding an adapter their take it off carefully so you dont damage the mating surface on the block clean thoroughly get inspect for cracks or pinholes replace gasket and oil filter. if in doubt about the shape of your adapter buy a new one from gm 34.99 or less if you go to summit racing .com make sure you put oil in your filter about half a quart then start let it warm up check for leaks shut it off wait about ten minutes for the oil to drain back into the pan and check your oil level you might need to add another half quart
Need to check the oil cooler lines, there are 2 of them that are hooked to the oil filter adapter just above the oil filter and they run up the side of the engine and go into the radiator. Driverside. They are probley leaking.
bad filter
Which filter housing? Air filter, oil filter, fuel filter?
It doesn't have one. To test the fuel pressure an adapter has to be installed between a fitting at the fuel filter and the fuel filter, preferably the fitting feeding into the filter from the pump.
oil leaking out of the muffer and the air filter oil leaking out of the muffer and the air filter oil leaking out of the muffer and the air filter oil leaking out of the muffer and the air filter
The fuel filter on a 2006 Suburban is in the fuel tank. Chevy started putting the filter in the tank in 2005.
You did not say what year it is, and that makes it tough to answer. But you can look at this. I think your engine has 2 oil cooler lines that start at the top of you oil filter and runs to the radiator. Your oil filter is screwed onto aOIL FILTER ADAPTER If you remove the filter you will see 2 bolts that hold the adapter to the block. If your oil lines are leaking were they hook to the adapter then get 2 o-rings from parts store and remove lines and install the o-rings onto the ends of the lines. If the oil is coming from the top of the oil filter then go and buy yourself a oil filter adapter gasket kit and remove those two bolts that I was talking about earlier and replace the gaskets.
The two bolts could have loosened up, or possibly there are two gaskets in there.
How do you change the oil filter sending unit of a 1999 suburban?
Yes, Just unhook them from the side of the oil filter adapter and install 2 pipe plugs in there place. That's it.
i have to same problem with my sierra ive changed the filter and it still leaks, i was told that its the oil filter adapter you can get one at autozone for about $20
My understanding is that it is not the oil filter housing leaking, that can be verified with a $2.00 replacement seal, and replaced by owner with a bit of ability, and tools, but it is more likely the timing chain cover that is leaking, with an estimated cost to repair of around $700, and that is mostly due to the shop labor for just getting to it.
