On a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee why would the display indicate that the front passenger's door is open when it is not?

There is a short in the wire to the door.

The sensors for the door can also go bad or break so they dont know that the door is closed. They just push in a little bit on the front side of the door frame when the door is closed and to remove them they should just pull out with a pair of pliers or a small screwdriver.

I had the exact same problem with the passenger side door on my '95 GC. When the door shuts it pushes in a button that's located about halfway down on the (middle) door jam. had the exact same problem with the passenger side door on my '95 GC. because when the door was shut it wasn't pushing the button in far enough to turn off the indicator. It's easy enough to check to see if it's that by pushing the button in by hand with the door open and looking at the indicator. I glued a piece of cardboard on the button and it works as it should. That's a cheap, fast fix and works for me because I rarely have passengers (seldom open the door).

I also had the exact same problem with the passenger side door on my '95 GC. i.e when the door was shut it wasn't pushing the button in far enough to turn off the indicator. I stuck a couple of 'Spot Bandaids" on the door at the point where the door met the button about a year and a half ago and it works just fine.
