There should be a hose clamp around the base of the air filter housing on the throttle body. You can access the screw for this clamp from the drivers side using a flathead screwdriver. Loosen this clamp, then unsnap the intake and the return hose from the passenger side of the engine. Lift up on the filter housing and there is a rubber washer that "snaps" down on a "bolt in front of the housing. Once you have the entire housing loose and out of the engine compartment, unsnap the 3 latches on the front and then it should be easy sailing from there. NOTE: when you reinstall the housing; 1. make sure the rubber gasket is installed on the top of the throttle body; 2. make sure you get the hose clamp reattached properly. Unfortunately, this generation of Dodge ram air filters is a pain to put back together. Hope this helps!

the only way that im aware of to determine shallow or deep pan is to remove the pan and check the thickness of the filter. deep pan filter should have a small pickup tube on the bottom. unless someone has changed the trans all 4x4 trucks have the deep pans.
you remove it
Either remove the trans, or remove the front axle on a 4x4.Either remove the trans, or remove the front axle on a 4x4.
under the intake manifold

no
If it is anything like my 96 ram 1500, it does not have an external filter. There is a filter in the gas tank connected to the fuel pump.
The filter is located on the cross member in front of the gas tank. Remove the shield at the front area and it is mounted to the shield. 10 minute job.
No. The automatics are different from 1995-2000, also the 2wd and 4wd have different tail housings.
That would be the shifter cable.
