On a 2002 Dodge Van what would cause the air blower system to randomly vent air from dash vents to the defroster vents and then the floor vents?

The distribution of the heat and air conditioning is controlled by vacuum. I have had two Dodge vans and under hard acceleration, the lack of vacuum to the blend door causes the distribution of air to become mixed up. A spring closes the door door when there is no vacuum. Engine vacuum is used by the heater control to tell the blend door what position it should be in. I don't know if this is just a quirk of the Doge vans but you may have a problem in the vacuum system if this happens randomly.
