You should note that the bushings fit into the holes in the caliper. So there really is enough room there. Put the bushings in the holes and fit the caliper over the rotor and work it back into place by jiggling it back and forth and down onto it. Then put the two Allen head bolts back in when the bolt holes line up.

How to remove brake caliper on Kia Sportage 2002?

remove th front wheel, undo the 2 bolts on calipers and bushings, thenlift calipers off. HINT: if calipers seem to stick then get a large flat bladed screwdriver and wedge it between rotor and caliper and apply just enough force to back off pistons in calipers to remove them then they will slide off.

How do you change the front brakes on a 1995 Cadillac ElDorado?

Start by removing the front wheels. Once the wheels are off you will see the rotors and caliper on the front of the strut. Take a socket and rachet and remove the two bolts one on the top and one at the bottom of the caliper. I believe they are 9MM hex bit. Pull the caliper off and the brakes will come with it. Remove the old pads and use a C clamp or C vise grip to push back the brake cylinder. Install the new pads making sure they are on correctly.(The easiest way to know this is to just remember how the old ones came off.) Reinstall the caliper on the rotor.(If it doesnt go on the brake cylinder is not back far enough.) reinstall the two bolts, double checking to be sure they are tight. Reinstall the front wheel and torque the lug nuts.

How do you replace the front brake pads on your 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra?

Pretty good summary on the Autozone site - http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0f/47/f7/0900823d800f47f7/repairInfoPages.htm Briefly, 1. Jack up the car - remove the front wheel 2. From the back side of the caliper, remove the two allen-head bolts that hold the caliper on. 3. Compress the piston enough to give slack enough to lift the caliper off the disk. 4. Remove the old pads from the caliper 5. Use a large C clamp to compress the caliper piston fully 6. Insert the new pads in the caliper 7. Place the caliper back in position on the disk 8. Fasten the caliper down with the two allen-head bolts 9. Reinstall the wheel 10. Repeat on the other side. 11. Pump the brakes a few times at the beginning of your test drive

'How do you change front brake pads on a 1995 buick century'?

Remove wheel. Use a big C clamp to push against the outboard pad a bit to retract the caliper piston a little. Remove the two caliper bolts (1/2 inch head, top and bottom, on the inboard side. Pull the caliper off, remove the pads and tie it up out of the way. Leave the brake line hose connected. Check the master cylinder reservoir for enough capacity to force some brake fluid back up into it. If it's full, remove some. Replace the cap. Use the C clamp to push the piston all the way down until it bottoms out in its bore. You can have the rotor resurfaced or replace it, but if it looks in good condition, this is not essential. Put new pads in the caliper. Use some caliper grease on the back of the pads to prevent squeaking. Also put caliper grease on the inside of the rubber boots on the back that cover the ends of the bushings the caliper bolts go through. You want grease on the outside of the bushings, between them and the caliper body, so that the caliper can move inboard and outboard to center itself over the rotor and the pads wear evenly. Reassemble. Pump brakes before starting on a test drive.

How do you replace front brakes on a 1984 Ford F150?

disk or drum brakes? disk brakes, you jack up car, remove wheel. remove 2 bolts that hold caliper to vehicle. then lift caliper off disk, being careful not to break flexible brake line.remove old brake pads, noting how anti rattle goes on. using a large c-clamp,u need to push caliper piston back into caliper far enough to allow u to install new pads and have space between them to reinstall over disk. reinstall 2 bolts that hold caliper, replace wheel. repeat on other side of car.start vehicle and apply brakes couple of times before you engage gears. this will seat new pads against disk then drive car slowly to test they are working for drum brakes you really need a shop manual this is more involved and you need to remember exactly how each part is attached to vehicle. a manual has pictures which makes it a lot easier

How do you get the brake caliper off of a 1995 aerostar van to change the brakes?

Use a large C- clamp to depress the piston enough to remove the caliper.

How do you remove the front brake caliper on kia sportage 2000 model?

the front brake calipers are held on with 2 bolts. So, loosen lug nuts, jack up the side you want to remove tire, remove tire. Then put a jack stand under car to protect and for safety, undo 2 caliper bolts on back side of caliper, take a large flat blade screw driver and gently pry between caliper and rotor to back off caliper pressure to rotor just enough to allow you to slide caliper off rotor. And that is how it is done.

What size hex is needed to remove brake caliper on 2008 Ford Expedition LT?

How do you change the front brake pads on your 2006 Saturn Ion 3?

* Remove the fluid from the master cylinder until it is 1/2-full using a turkey baster or similar device. Remove the front wheel. To prevent the rotor from falling off, tighten the stud nuts. Install the C-clamp over the body of the caliper with the clamp ends against the rear of the caliper body and against the outboard pad. * 2 Tighten the clamp until the caliper piston is compressed enough to allow the caliper to be removed. Remove the caliper lower bolt. Remove the 2 [http://www.ehow.com/how_4508058_front-disc-brakes-saturn-ion.html# brake pads] and the pad clips from the caliper support. Throw away the old pad clips. Closely check the caliper pins, pin boots and the piston boot for damage. * 3 Install the new brake pads and clips to the caliper bracket. Using silicone grease, lubricate the pin boots and guide pins. Reinstall the pin boots. Reconnect the caliper over the brake pads. Reinstall the caliper lower bolt through the caliper. Reinstall the wheel. Depress the brake pedal a few times until the brake pads are seated against the rotor. * Read more: [http://www.ehow.com/how_4508058_front-disc-brakes-saturn-ion.html#ixzz16MNj8eVW How to Replace Front Disc Brakes in a Saturn Ion | eHow.com] [http://www.ehow.com/how_4508058_front-disc-brakes-saturn-ion.html#ixzz16MNj8eVW http://www.ehow.com/how_4508058_front-disc-brakes-saturn-ion.html#ixzz16MNj8eVW]

What is a caliper reset tool?

A Caliper Reset Tool is a tool used to 'reset' the brake caliper piston on calipers with an integral handbrake system. The tool spins the piston while applying pressure to compress it enough to replace the old pads with newer thicker ones.

How do you stop brake caliper from rubbing on rotor?

The brake caliper should not touch a rotor ever. There is a metal backing plate on the brake pad that can rub the rotor if the pad wears thin enough.

You replaced the rear pads and rotor on a 2003 Camry there is not enough clearance between the pads for the rotor how do you make the clearence?

I'M NOT exactly sure what you're asking but I think I know. Here goes: I think the problem you're having is that you can't get the caliper assembly (that the new pads sit in) back on, over the rotor. This is because as the old brake pads wore down, the piston inside the caliper moved closer to the rotor. What you need to do is take the new pads out of the caliper assembly. In the center, you will see the round solid end of the piston. What you have to do is get the piston pushed back into the caliper. Try using a LARGE "C" clamp. One side of the clamp on the caliper backside and one side of the clamp on the piston side. Carefully squeeze the clamp together, and the piston will very slowly go back into the caliper. Keep squeezing it until the piston goes all the way back in. Now when you put the new pads back on the caliper, there should be enough room between the pads to slide it over the rotor. Hope this answered your question! Good Luck!! <<ADR>>
