The size is 9mm hex. It needs to be long enough to reach the recessed caliper bolt.
1. Remove the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper. 2. Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper. 3. Remove and discard the 2 copper brake hose gaskets. These gaskets may be stuck to the brake caliper and/or the brake hose end. 4. Cap or plug the opening in the brake caliper and the brake hose to prevent fluid loss and contamination. 5. Remove the 2 brake caliper pin bolts. Remove the park brake cable from the caliper. 6. Remove the brake caliper from the brake caliper bracket.
When I changed ours this is what I did. Remove tire, remove 2 bolts from back side of caliper, Pull caliper off rotor, using old brake pad and c-clamp press caliper, take old pads out put new pads in. place caliper back on put bolts back in. Turn rotors when needed when the pads are off.

Lift the car on a car jack, remove the tire off the car, remove the brake shoe/caliper and remove the old brake pad. Next put in the new brake pads, put the brake shoe/caliper in its place, put the tire back on the car and slowly lower the car to the ground.
Remove the tire then remove the brake caliper take the pads off and replace them just like you removed them. Put the brake caliper back on you will need to bleed the brake line on the caliper add brake fluid if needed and put the tire bak on.
You will need a hex key to remove the brake caliper on an '05 Navigator. There will be two bolts that need to be taken off with the hex key.
Remove wheel, remove the bolt holding brake hose to the caliper, remove the two pins that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket using a 3/8" allen wrench, remove caliper. Inspect brake pads and brake hose for damage, replace if necessary. Install new brake caliper in reverse order. Bleed system.
Remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way, then thread 2 8 mm bolts into the holes provided on the disk. Screw them in and the brake rotor will come off.
You have to remove the brake caliper before you can remove the brake pads. I recommend you use a piece of wire and tie the caliper up to the spring to hold it. Now that the rotor is out of the way, you can remove them by sliding them out.
Proper Torx bit or wrench for caliper C-Clamp to retract piston to get it off the disc
You need a 15 mm regular wrench.
