How are the coils numbered
On a 2000 Ford Expedition : The Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system on the 4.6 and 5.4 is numbered : firewall 4 - 8 3 - 7 2 - 6 1 - 5 front of vehicle
I paid 200 for a mechanic to replace it. I had to replace 3 coils in the last 3 years. I have a 2001 expedition
I am no mechanic but i just had my ignition coils changed on my ford expedition and there are 8 it was expensive to fix .

the coils are directly on top of each spark plug. they are round and have an electrical plug coming out of the side.
