On an 87 Astro van my drivers outside door handle stopped working because the cable has became unattached inside I opened the door panel but cannot figure out what I need to reattach the cable to?

All ASTRO van door handles have a generic problem. They are made out of a substandard material that breaks easily after repeated operation. Most likely, the part that the cable is supposed to attach to on your door handle is broken off. Every ASTRO I've owned, I have ended up replacing door handles on because of this problem
