1998 dodge cirrus dash lights don't work but other lights do?

Check the dimmer knob. If that isn't it. Check your fuse. Might not be the problem, but it's a place to start

What is the type of lamp uses with dimmer switch?

You cannot use most fluorescent lights with a dimmer. Just about any incandescent bulb WILL work with a dimmer. Occasionally, when a halogen bulb burns out, it will destroy a dimmer switch but halogen bulbs are considered incandescent and other than that little problem they work well with a dimmer.

What should you do if you installed a new light in an old house that uses a dimmer switch and now the light won't turn off?

Some lights won't dim. If you've installed the switch properly, and are using traditional incandescent bulbs (not flourescent, LED, E-L lights or any other very low current light), the dimmer will dim the bulbs. Make sure you're using a dimmable bulb and that the dimmer is installed properly.

Why dash lights wont come on while all other lights warning lights and all fuses were good?

Probably the dash fuse is blown, or the dimmer switch for the dash lights is bad!

1989 Chevrolet silveradothe parking lights and dash lights went outbut the head lights still workthe fuses are goodcould this be the dimmer light switch?

It is probably either the switch or a bad ground somewhere. Try the switch first. On my truck the switch itself is going bad. most of the time if you just keep turning the switch on and off then it will come on. If not you'll have to replace the switch. Logic tells us that IF the headlights [high and low beams] are WORKING, then the dedicated HEADLIGHT dimmer switch is OK, as the headlights are the only thing that dimmer switch controls. The HEADLIGHT dimmer switch is ONLY in the headlight circuit, not the other related circuits such as instrument panel and parking lights. On the other hand, there is a SEPERATE DIMMER switch, usually in the MAIN light switch, for controling the brightness of the instrument panel lights, and as answers 1 and 2 suggest, the problem is more likely in the main switch which controls the instrument and parking light circuits, but again, not in the switch dedicated to controlling high and low beam headlights.j3h.

What could be causing the dash lights to flicker dim and die in a 96 Plymouth Voyager when exterior and other interior lights still work?

loose connection to the dimmer switch. Check the dimmer switch by dialing off low - hi and back a few times while you have the parking lights on. Also check for a lose fuse.

My dash gauge lights on my 2004 Toyota Solara don't go on at night and I can't find a dimmer switch and am wondering if I just can't find the switch or if there is a problem with the fuse?

There is a dimmer or brightness adjustment knob. It's on your dashboard about the 4 o'clock position on your tachometer. The knob has a tiny white pointer printed on the clear plastic next to it. You might want to check your owners manual for the dimmer location along with other controls.

Instrument lights on kia sportage 2001 stay on?

replace main engine relay, see if problem goes away.check that round button dimmer switch on left side of steering wheel dash, they usually get cold solder joints and just quit giving no lights but if it shorted out it could go the other way.

Why would your dashboard lights not be working is it a fuse or light bulb?

Is your fuse blown? I have the same problem with my truck. Are any other lights out, or just the instrument panel lights? Often the fuse powers other things. For instance my instrument panel lights are out and so are my running lights. I have found that I have a short somewhere in the wiring. If you replace the fuse and it blows again It is probable that you do as well. I am not sure that the instrument panel is a bulb or not could be analog lights. I am working on the same problem now.AnswerDid you install a radio>? It is a common mistake to use the instrument light wire as a ground. If not, It could be a fuse, the dimmer switch, or the bulb, as a rule, all the lights dont blow at the same time. Some cars use a dimmer module, newer and high end imports especially going back (in my experience to 92 and possibly earlier in imports). RELELNTLESSfuses, dimmer switch, head light moduel, daytime running light sensor, night time running light sensor all been replaced. The dashlights, nor any of the turn signals will come on AT NIGHT?? WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS/

If the dash lights are out but the fuse is good on a Ford F-150 how do you fix it?

It could be the headlight switch, It has the dimmer inside it. on my 1992 I had the same problem it drove me nuts. but there 2 fuses for it. the other one was for the warning buzzard it also says that it is for that so check and see if that is it.

1990 laser kf was runnin fine an hour ago now wont start unsure if alternator or starter motor please help?

Did it struggle to start in the first place? Similar problem with my kf, had to jump start it, was fine for about 10 minutes then just died, wouldn't start again until jumped. Drove with lights on and they gradually got dimmer and dimmer, then died again, problem was the alternator. If your car has just died and wont start but lights+cd player etc. still work it will be starter motor or other problems.

Can a dimmer switch help reduce the use of energy in a home?

No. this is because a dimmer switch increases resistance to produce less light. in other words, the dimmer switch converts the electrical energy into other forms such as heat by increasing resistance and is thus not saving energy, but wasting it.
