I had this happen to me. It turned out to be a corroded earth terminal.
check if your lights are still on that drained the battery
There is a good chance you have a bulb in backwards in one of the sockets
Fog lights are in the front; they are commonly referred to as "brights" because they are the brighter of the two standard headlights. Brake lights are in the rear; they light up when pressure is applied to the brakes or when the car is in park or reverse.
do your brake lights work wen pressing brake . if not its the brake pedal sensor
APPLY BRAKES AND SEE IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. IF NO BRAKE LIGHTS, REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH LOCATED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ARM AND THIS SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IF THAT BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS BROKE, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GET IT OUT OF PARK
I had the same problem and after a bit of searching, it ended up being the Park fuse. Fuse Number 4 on my 2001 Dodge Dakota.
the parking brake may be stuck and that causes the brakes to lock up completely, and the horn and lights will stick work if the parking brake is stuck.
This is the locking mechanism that prevents you from shifting from park without depressing the brake pedal or pressing the release button to the right of the gear shifter. You either got a bad new Switch or more likely you have a power supply problem to the park side of the switch.
You should have to depress the break pedal while shifting out of Park.
Check to see if your brake lights work. The brakes have to be pushed to get it out of park. If the brake lights don't work check the switch at the pedal. If the brake lights work the problem is with the shift interlock mechanism. There is a slot in the console with a plug in it. Take the plug out and insert a small screwdriver. This will allow you to shift out of park. To fix the shift interlock you must take the console off. The shift interlock is about $37 and easy to replace.
with the park lights on both left and right side are lite. but when the brake is applied the right brake lights up and the left goes out(doesn't light up)
