How? By conducting invasions (termed as incursions so they didn't sound so warlike) of Cambodia in '70 & Laos in '71. These two campaigns were designed to disrupt the supply lines of both men & material in those two sectors. The next phase of "peace with honor" were the maximum effort aerial bombings...using the heaviest bombers in the American arsenal, B52s. These were the "Linebacker" campaigns in 1972. These were designed to bring Hanoi to its knees (back to the negotiation tables in Paris). The final phase was the return of US Prisoners of War in 1973...now we could leave with our head held high.
After the Christmas Bombing, he says he would like to make a peace settlement with North Vietnam.
