* To plan a wedding reception for under $300 will take the unity of both sides of the family to help out. If you are getting married during the spring or summer then you could have the reception out in the backyard. Some people even have BBQ's while others have tables with foods that the mother of the bride and relatives cook themselves. A wedding cake is not all that hard to make and can be made and then sent to a bakery to be decorated ONLY with the semi-soft icing and the cake can be decorated by the bride or her mother with fresh flowers. Beverages such as pop, etc., should be supplied and you can ask guests to bring their own alcohol. If you are planning a wedding in the autumn or winter months then you could have the reception inside either the bride's parent's home or the groom's parent's home. The same applies above for the food. Things such as ham; roast beef; potatoes; vegetables, etc., or have an afternoon reception and serve finger foods; fruit and vegetable platters, etc. Champagne is not necessary and the wine should be supplied by the groom's parents or the groom himself. Wine kits can be bought and made at a wine shop (takes 6 to 8 weeks for the wine to be ready.)

Is wedding souvenir and gift beneficial?

A wedding gift is expected. There may be favors at the reception for the guests to take home as souvenirs, but wait for one to be offered as they are not mandatory . If you are desperate for a souvenir, take a bit of wedding cake home with you. There is an old saying that if you put it under your pillow [in a baggie, we suggest ] you will dream of your true love.

What do you do with the flowers after a wedding?

A good idea at a wedding reception is to place a gold sticker under a chair or a plate on the table and whoever gets that gold sticker at each table gets to take the guest's table centerpiece home. As far as the flowers on the Head Table, the bride can divide the flowers between her mother and mother-in-law or give them to sisters or best girlfriends.

If a couple elope and then have a wedding celebration on their return can they have a wishing well and what is gift etiquette for this celebration?

Many couples elope and then have a wedding reception or party on their return. A wishing well is generally used for wedding cards with money enclosed. Because some people don't understand what a Wishing Well is then you may have to put very delicately in your invitation what a Wishing Well means. You could also let people know you are registered at different stores under Wedding Registry and they could buy your gift at one of these stores.I'm from the UK, I've never heard of a Wishing Well at a wedding.

Do you need liability insurance for a wedding reception?

Wedding Liability InsuranceYou can get a special event policy for under $300 depending on the size of your wedding and the budgeted cost. The best company I have worked with is Abacus Insurance. You can also get cancellation coverage. If the wedding is canceled due to weather etc, this ensures a refund of your deposits and some other coverage. FYI-during my insurance classes my teacher told me of a wedding he attended where a woman got drunk left the wedding and was in a car accident. She sued the parents who hosted the wedding and won a million dollars. Be careful! Frivolous lawsuits have become a big part of our society.Wedding Reception with Alcohol ServiceIn certain jurisdictions, such as in Canada, the law is quite clear. If a host allows a guest to drive away intoxicated, the host shares the criminal responsibility for the resulting accident, and can be charged with criminal negligence if anyone is injured or killed by the drunk driver. Dry weddings are now the norm here.

In a wedding what does the bride wear on her thigh?

I think it's called a garter. It's usually made out of some sort of elastic and covered with a form of lace. It's usually removed by the groom during the reception, which means he has to go under the bride's dress with loads of people watching. What's done with it afterwards, is up to the newlyweds.
