Had a very similar problem with our '93 just the other day. The wiring was way off, but apparently there were enough similarities that it still ran. In our case the cap was wired to cylinders 1,2,3,4,5,6. Whoa, the firing order is 1,6,5,4,3,2 (turning clockwise). After I corrected that, it wouldn't start at all. Come to find out, the number one pole on the distributor cap was two poles off. It might not hurt to check out your basics. If you're not sure how to find out when the rotor is pointing to the number one cylinder, here's what I came up with. Crank the engine until the timing marks line up on the crankshaft pully then take the cap off the distributor and note which cap pole it would be pointing to. That's number one on the cap. Count them off clockwise in the firing order until you reach the questionable connection and see which spark plug it goes to. The cylinders are numbered front to back 1,3,5 on the driver's side and 2,4,6 on the passenger side. In my case, I couldn't find the timing marks. There's a bunch of stuff in the way and you've got to know exactly where to look, so I thought if I put a screwdriver in the number one spark plug hole and watched as it came out as I cranked the engine I would be close enough to knowing it was at or near TDC. I would note which distributor cap pole the the rotor would be pointing to and I'm home free. All except the fact that I can't quite get in there, I could barely get the plug out. I can get to the number four cylinder, so I did it there. Be careful you don't get the screwdriver caught up in a valve, you've probably already noticed the plugs go in on an upward angle. Note which distributor cap pole the rotor would be pointing to and count off the poles per the firing order (clockwise), until you get to number one. Hope this helps.
It depends what the problem is with Safari. There are numerous known glitches (some have been fixed) to Safari. It would be best to specify exactly what is wrong with Safari.

The answer is safari.
Yahoo Answers has a problem with bad cache files. So your first step would be to clear all your cache files and restart your computer. If that does not help, you may need to report a BUG on Yahoo Answers. Since the last update, they have had some issues. You can get to the Suggestion Board to post the bug by clicking on the ABOUT tab over the green bar there. If you can't get through with Safari, you may need to temporarily switch to another browser.
Same problem on my 1998 GMC Safari in 2003. I had the valve body in the transmission updated at a transmission shop. $368.88 and the problem has been fixed for the last 4 years.
The latest Safari browser download will shock you. Several times faster, major changes that have to be seen to be believed. As for tabs, it has that problem solved.

If Reverse works and Drive doesn't in a Safari Van, the problem is in the transmission. The belts for the forward gears are either stretched too much or broken.
I am having the same problem with my 2000 GMC Safari. The Service Engine Soon light is on some time. Can any one explain this issue please.
