In Europe the war started because Austria wanted to gain back Silesia from Prussia. Prussia allied with Britain and some of the other German states. Austria allied with France, Russia and Saxony. In the Americas, Britain used the war to kick France out of North America. This part of the war was called the French and Indian War. Britain also gained India. Prussia was able to keep Silesia.
