If you're just adding an amp for a subwoofer be sure to get an amplifier that has speaker level inputs and you're good. If you're looking to keep your factory head unit but want more power/clarity all around (with or without new speakers all around) and want to add an amp: a few years ago you would've had a problem, but now sound processors are available that allow factory head units to have additional power via amplifiers. Check out Crutchfield.com >this company is highly recommended (have used them numerous times myself)>excellent tech support and even better customer service.

A stereo power amplifier is simply a two channel power amplifier. You can runn it in a couple of ways; Stereo, mono or bridged.   Stereo has a seperate left and right signal in and sepetate out. Mono is one channel in and both output channels reproducing the one signal in. Bbridged gives you the same as mono BUT it uses both channels as one output.
