take the pulley nut off the alternator....the pulley is split.....shims between the two pulley halves adjust the belt tension
Begin by removing the wiring harness from the back of your 1974 Beetle blower motor. Remove the blower motor retaining bolts. Remove the blower motor fan. Reverse the process to install your new blower motor.
Remove the line that goes to the Carb. Carefully crank the engine over and see it fuel is being pumped. Just because the pump is new doesn't mean it was installed correctly.

You don't because there isn't one. Cam drive on a 1974 Bug is done through a big gear riveted to the end of the cam, that engages a gear on the crank.
There are specialty tools available to make this alot easier,piston ring expanders or pliers will help remove and install rings.
