First remove serpentine belt, loosen Power Steering mount bolts and remove, leave lines hooked up. Remove hose clamp holding intake hose to intake manifold from air filter. Remove fuel line and any vaccum hoses that wont remain with the manifold when it is taken off. Remove the fuel rail gently from the injectors. Remove all the nuts from the intake manifold, there is one nut down low on the passenger side of the manifold that is hard to get at and even see, I had to use a mirror so I could see to get my tools in place. Good luck
You just unbolt it. You first have to disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold then remove whatever you have to allow you to access the bolts and remove the manifold. It varies greatly from engine to engine. Some are easy and some are very hard.
The G8t engine? You are not going to like/believe this.... you need to remove the engine (bu lifting the car off it using a 2 post ramp) to remove the manifold. French design! It is just possible to remove pre-heaters & injectors with the manifold, and the engine, in situ. But any more than that - no.
Remove your lower passenger side engine mount and you will be able to rock the engine back far enough for the fan to clear the manifold.
take all the wiring and hoses loose from the top of the engine, and you might have to remove the valve covers. then just loosen the intake manifold bolts
remove valve from rocker cover remove valve from end of hose reinstall new valve on hose reinstall new valve into rocker cover Reinstall with the RATTLE end towards the engine and the tube end topside.
Drain the radiator in a container. Remove the engine end of the top radiator hose. The housing has 2 bolts that you remove. Remove the thermostat and clean the surfaces and reinstall the thermostat. Reinstall the hose and add coolant.
under the intake manifold you have to remove the engine cover to get to it.
you will have to unbolt the exhaust pipe from the manifold pipe and then you unbolt the manifold pipe from the engine, remove old gasket and make sure both sides are clean of the old gasket and then install new gasket and bolt manifold back onto engine.
This is a major overhaul. You must remove the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, oil pan, and head. You then must remove the pistons, install the rings on pistons, reinstall the pistons, along with all bearings, and reassemble the engine. If you wish to attempt this repair there is way too much to this to try and describe in detail here. I suggest you purchase a repair manual.
On the 12 valve engine it is positioned underneath the inlet manifold at the gearbox end to replace I found it easier to remove the inlet manifold after wasting time trying to do it with the manifold in place.
The intake manifold is where the air and fuel mix and enter the engine. The exhaust manifold is where unspent gas and air exit the engine. In other words the intake manifold is where the engine breathes in and the exhaust manifold is how the engine exhales out.
The oxygen sensor on a Saturn can be found in the exhaust manifold at the front of the engine. It simply unscrews and unplugs. 5 minute fix!
You must remove the Timing chain cover and engine girdle.
Should be a threaded part, so you might be able to remove it with vice grips or ez out. Might have to remove manifold from engine to machine it out.
Its a bit of a job because it is held on by the same bolts as the intake manifold, and the easiest way is to remove them both, otherwise the rusted exhaust bolts holding the tubing to the manifold is the worst.
That engine has 2 of them and they both are underneith the INTAKE MANIFOLD You will have to remove the intake to be able to remove them.
It's in the same place as it is on a 1991. It's on the engine block under the rear exhaust manifold, very difficult to get to and remove. Tp remove it you will likely need to remove the rear manifold to have access to it.
what maniofold are you asking about? intake or exhaust, and what kind of engine do you have?
you call someone
Check injector wiring harness to see if it melted around exaust manifold, I had that happen to me
what does idle funny mean? Does the whole car shake? (upper engine mount collapsed) Or does the engine shake/misfire? (Intake manifold gasket)
On the 4 cylinder Saturn, follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. Note that there is a housing that is bolted to the engine to which the radiator hose is connected. Remove the radiator hose first, then remove the housing. On the 4 cylinder Saturn's, the thermostat is a part of that housing.
this is a mechanics job you have to remove inlet manifold, exhaust manifolds, and then remove heads to replace the valves
on top of the engine, remove the plastic covering that houses the spark plug wires.
"Remove this only when cold (caution injury & vehicle damage" It is under your engine intake manifold plenum (the to metal assembly on the engine) almost center of the valve cover on the rear bank (closest to the fire wall). To change this you must rock the engine forward. You may need be able to remove this w/out removing the intake manifold. If you do be very carefull of the spider web thin vacuum lines under the manifold. If you remove the intake manifold you may need to purchase the intake manifold and any other gaskets and seals.
