First remove serpentine belt, loosen Power Steering mount bolts and remove, leave lines hooked up. Remove hose clamp holding intake hose to intake manifold from air filter. Remove fuel line and any vaccum hoses that wont remain with the manifold when it is taken off. Remove the fuel rail gently from the injectors. Remove all the nuts from the intake manifold, there is one nut down low on the passenger side of the manifold that is hard to get at and even see, I had to use a mirror so I could see to get my tools in place. Good luck
You just unbolt it. You first have to disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold then remove whatever you have to allow you to access the bolts and remove the manifold. It varies greatly from engine to engine. Some are easy and some are very hard.
The G8t engine? You are not going to like/believe this.... you need to remove the engine (bu lifting the car off it using a 2 post ramp) to remove the manifold. French design! It is just possible to remove pre-heaters & injectors with the manifold, and the engine, in situ. But any more than that - no.
The oxygen sensor on a Saturn can be found in the exhaust manifold at the front of the engine. It simply unscrews and unplugs. 5 minute fix!
Remove your lower passenger side engine mount and you will be able to rock the engine back far enough for the fan to clear the manifold.
take all the wiring and hoses loose from the top of the engine, and you might have to remove the valve covers. then just loosen the intake manifold bolts
remove valve from rocker cover remove valve from end of hose reinstall new valve on hose reinstall new valve into rocker cover Reinstall with the RATTLE end towards the engine and the tube end topside.
under the intake manifold you have to remove the engine cover to get to it.
This is a major overhaul. You must remove the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, oil pan, and head. You then must remove the pistons, install the rings on pistons, reinstall the pistons, along with all bearings, and reassemble the engine. If you wish to attempt this repair there is way too much to this to try and describe in detail here. I suggest you purchase a repair manual.
Drain the radiator in a container. Remove the engine end of the top radiator hose. The housing has 2 bolts that you remove. Remove the thermostat and clean the surfaces and reinstall the thermostat. Reinstall the hose and add coolant.
If your 1987 Celebrity has the 4 cylinder 2.5L engine The ignition module is mounted to the engine block beneath the intake manifold. First unplug the electrical connector, then mark the spark plug wires so you know where to put them back and unplug the spark plug wires. Remove the bolts that hold the ignition module in place. Then unplug the module from the crankshaft position sensor and remove the module from the vehicle. Reverse the procedure to reinstall. If your vehicle has the V6 2.8L engine: Raise the car and put on stands as necessary. The ignition module is bolted to the block below the exhaust manifold on the radiator side of the engine. Unplug the electrical connections. Mark the spark plug wires so you know where to put them back and unplug them. Next remove the bolts that hold the module in place and remove it. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.
Check injector wiring harness to see if it melted around exaust manifold, I had that happen to me
That engine has 2 of them and there BOTH underneith the INTAKE MANIFOLD. You MUST remove it before you can even see or get to them.
