I recently just did this to my 86 F150 and i am finding it easier to replace the entire multifunction switch instead of just the turn signal cam. I tried just replacing the turn signal cam but even if you soder the wires, its almost impossible to get everthing to fit back together correctly, thats why next i'm just replacing the entire multifunction switch that already has the turn signal cam attached, i picked it up from the local auto parts store for 60 bucks. Good luck i hope this was helpful!
It's inside the steering column , the turn signal lever and hazard light button are part of the multi-function switch and stick outside of the steering column
There is a backup light switch on the transmission.
Disconnect the battery. Remove the plastic trim around the steering column. Remove the screws that hold the turn signal switch to the column. Disconnect the switch from the wiring and remove it.
You need to replace the turn signal flasher which is near the column under the dash, then take a 12v circuit tester and check your stoplight switch; replace if necessary. Lastly, clean bulb sockets out and test bulbs. One of these areas should lead you to the fix.
