Will a bad ignition relay on the 1997 sc2 cause it to click when you turn the key and create problems to start vehicle?

That's more likely to be caused by a low battery or corroded battery terminals but it COULD be the starter. If you can jump start it you probably have a faulty battery or alternator.

Battery light on 94 Saturn won't turn off?

That is typically caused by a faulty alternator. Have the alternator tested; the light is indicating that the alternator is not providing a charge to the battery.

Can a loose positive battery cable prevent the alternator from charging the batter and can it cause a battery drain while the engine is not running?

Yes, a loose battery cable will prevent the alternator from charging the battery. The drain on the battery is not caused by the engine not running unless an accessory is left on. Most likely, the drain is caused by accessories (radio, lights, etc) while the engine is running due to the battery not receiving its charge from the alternator and then not having enough charge left to start the engine.

What would cause the battery light to remain lit on a 1992 Acura Vigor?

It is usually caused by a bad alternator.

1999 Chrysler 300 just click when trying to start?

Weak battery. Which may in turn be caused by a bad alternator.

What causes car to stall when you turn on lights?

Generally this is caused by something failing in the charging system. Test your battery and alternator.

Can a weak battery cause the alternator to make a loud whining noise?

I would say probably not, the reason your battery is weak is I reckon due to a fault with your alternator. It is obviously not producing sufficient power (electricity ) to keep the battery charged. The whining noise is probably caused by worn-out bearings. A replacement or re-conditioned alternator should cure the problem .

What would cause starting problems in a Mitsubishi eclipse GST 1995 after replacing the starter?

Starting problems in a Mitsubishi Eclipse GST 1995 could be caused by a weak battery or an alternator that does not charge. You might also have gotten a bad starter when you replaced that one.

Why is a month old battery dead in two days in your 1984 Eldorado Can the drain be caused by the heater blower which stays on for a while when the car is running and the off switch does not turn it of?

The Alternator might be bad on it, and needs to be replaced, or at least looked at by someone who knows what their doing.

Why does my battery die a month after I put in a new battery?

It may be caused by faulty battery connections. Alternator failing, other electrical component "jammed on", - IN these case have a mechanic check the charge rate of the alternator firstly

Why would the battery light come on and go off you replaced the battery and had the alt checked and its OK 1998 Grand Marquis?

First of all, the battery light never means that you have a bad battery. You COULD have a bad battery, but that is another issue apart from the battery light. The battery light means that the regulator in the alternator doesn't see a charge going to the battery. That doesn't mean you have a bad alternator either, but you could have a bad alternator. The light is turned on by the regulator which is built into the alternator. Just because you have had the alternator checked does not mean that it is good. For one thing, I have seen a lot of alternators that were working, but there was a problem with the regulator falsely turning on the light. Guess what? The fix is replace the alternator, since the regulator is part of the alternator. Also, it is possible that you have an intermittant problem in the alternator. That is consistant with the battery light going on and off. If the alternator is charging at times, and not charging at other times, it may just be that the alternator is bad but it was working at the time they checked it. Another possibilty is that you may have an intermittant problem in the wiring to the alternator. The alternator requires a field voltage supply to it in order to work. If the field goes away, the alternator stops charging. You could have a break in a wire going to the alternator that is making contact at times, and not at other times. Most likely that would be right at the alternator connector itself, that is where I usually find problems. There are two connectors, one has three wires, the other has one wire. Try tugging a little on each individual wire as it enters the connector hardshell, and see if you find a wire broken inside of the insulation. I've seen cases where the belt was slipping on the alternator and the battery light would go on, then off. It was caused by a worn belt or the belt tensioner itself was bad. Check those things first before replacing an expensive alternator.

How do you know if your starter went out or is it your alternator?

if it is your alternator your battery will be low or dead... your lights will be dim when turned on. , if you cannot crank your car or it will crank slowly it may be your starter or battery cable connection or a loose connection in the link........ , a low battery caused by an alternator will usually click rapidly the starter solenoid, when trying to start, and the lights will go out when cranking ..., for the most part turn on your headlights if they are dim the charging system or the battery is to blame .. hope this helps
