If the vehicle is 1996 or newer, then you will need an OBD II capable scan tool. If it is older than 96, it will be using an OBD I scan tool. Follow the directions on the scan to remove the codes. On some older cars, there is a procedure to turn the light off, for instance press brake pedal 3 timesw/ignition off, then turn on ignition, turn off and on again. The MIL means there is an issue with some system. Turning off the light will not fix your problem. It can be as simple as a gas cap not being tight to your torque converter clutch failing. Find out why the light is on and fix it. Don't just turn it off and assume that the problem will go away.
close the bonnet and then lock the doors
How do you reset dashboard brake light on vw passat
There is nothing to "reset" for the 1999 VW Beetle.
how to rest airbag light on VW t5 ,thanks
Yes, it is a Golf but VW stopped calling it the "VW Golf... GTI". Just as VW didn't call the R32 a Golf (although it is based on the VW Golf and has the same shape and many common components).
You buy a new one. They do not reset.
You can reset the brake warning lights, on your VW Jetta, by backing up 20 feet and using the brakes. The automobile will sense the new pads and the warning light will go off.
