AnswerIslam religion and science from the early beginning were always in support to each other. Islam encouraged strongly scintists and science research and considered that the more science is progressed the more people will know God through His creations and His creators. People who are more knowledgeable of sciences are more rewarded by God.

Quran says (with meaning English translation):

"....Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know..."[Quran, chapter 39, verse 9]

" ...Those who fear Allah (God), among His servants, who have knowledge,..."[Quran, chapter 35, verse 28]

".. Allah(God)will raise up to higher ranks (and degrees) those of you who believe and who have been granted knowledge"

[Quran, chapter 58, verse 11]

"Soon will We show them our signs and proofs in the furthest universe horizons and in themselves until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth (Allah, Quran, Islam religion)

[Quran, chapter 41, verse 53]

The Islam religion encouragement to science research and scientists, opposite to other religions at that time, is very clear in the Islamic civilizations and Islam contributions to science and technology before the western civilization.

Another issue that shows that Islam religion and science are twins is the scientific miracles in Quran. It is meant by the scientific miracles of Qur'an that Qur'an included lots of scientific statements that was only proved by the current state of art of science and information. These statements are considered as scientific miracles because of their revelation in the seventh century (Qur'an revelation started in year 610 AD) while they were able to be validated and proved only with the current state-of-art of knowledge, science and discoveries. This is considered as one of the proofs that the holy book Qur'an was a revelation from God to Prophet Mohamed and that Qur'an was not authored by a human-being or extracted from other human-being authored documents, as some may claim.

In this regards I quote here the words said by:Dr. Maurice Bucaille, an eminent medical scientist and a member of the French Academy of Medicine. He is the author of the book entitled "The Bible, The Quran and Science."

"Science and Islam's close relationship with it played a tremendous role in strengthening my faith and that of scientists throughout history - even today! This is a fascinating section - do take time to explore it!"

"There is indeed no "human work prior to modern times that contains statements which were equally in advance of the state of knowledge at the time they appeared and which might be compared to the Quran. It comes as no surprise to learn that Religion and Science have always been considered to be twin sisters by Islam and that today, at a time when science has taken such great strides, they still continue to be associated, and furthermore certain scientific data are used for the better understanding of the Quranic text."

"What is more, in a century where, for many, scientific truth has dealt a deathblow to religious belief, it is precisely the discoveries of science that, in an objective examination of the Islamic Revelation, have highlighted the supernatural character of certain aspects of the Revelation."

"The Quran contains infinitely more precise details [than many scientific discoveries today] which are directly related to facts discovered by modern science: these are what exercise a magnetic attraction for today's scientists."

"It is not faith in Islam that first guided my steps, but simple research for the truth. [What led me to this conviction was the fact that it would be unthinkable] for a man of Muhammad's time to have been the author of such statements on account of the state of knowledge in his days."

Answer A

None of scientific discoveries, inventions, or facts that were concluded after the revelation of Quran (started in year 610) caused any conflict with Quran scientific statements. The opposite is what happened. Those scientific discoveries, inventions, and facts are continually proving that this Quran is a revelation from God and that it includes scientific issues and phenomena that were only been possible to be proved by the current state of art of knowledge and science. That is why called "Quran Scientific Miracles". It is topic of study of many westerners.

In this regard, it may be referred to the sayings that follow, made by Dr. Maurice Bucaille, an eminent medical scientist and a member of the French Academy of Medicine. He is the author of the book entitled "The Bible, The Quran and Science."

"The Quran contains infinitely more precise details [than many scientific discoveries today] which are directly related to facts discovered by modern science: these are what exercise a magnetic attraction for today's scientists.

"It is not faith in Islam that first guided my steps, but simple research for the truth. What led me to this conviction was the fact that it would be unthinkable for a man of Muhammad's time to have been the author of such statements on account of the state of knowledge in his days."

Answer B

As the Qur'an is a religious and theological tract, it does not concern itself with issues of science. However, in the past 40 years a campaign by some Muslim circles has propagated the claim that the Quran is perfectly compatible with science. Evidently, the contradictory accounts of creation if taken literally and not as a creation myth; or the claim that a person is produced from a lique emitting from between the backbone and the ribs (and not the testes) produce issues difficult to reconcile with science.

The rule of thumb:
1. For religious guidance as a Muslim - go to the Quran and the hadith
2. For scientific information, consult a science book.

Answer C

There is strong relation between science and Islam. Within a few years of the spread of Islam, great civilizations and universities were flourishing. In few years after start of Islam, great advances achieved, by Muslims, in medicine, mathematics, physics, astronomy, geography, architecture, art, literature, and history. Many crucial systems, such as algebra, the Arabic numerals, and the concept of zero (vital to the advancement of mathematics), were transmitted to medieval Europe from the Muslim world. Sophisticated instruments which were to make possible the European voyages of discovery, such as the astrolabe, the quadrant, and good navigational maps, were also developed by Muslims.

Of all the things I can think of related to Science is stated in the Quran. Not evolution and if it was then it would say that there is no such thing as evolution. But like the whole theory about other planets and finding water or other creatures we have never heard of that are being discovered are all stated in the Quran. Not all people will understand though.

SCIENTIFIC FACTS MENTIONED IN THE QUR'AN: for details on this subject please refer to the book, 'THE QUR'AN AND MODERN SCIENCE -- COMPATIBLE OR INCOMPATIBLE?

The light of the moon can be its own light or a reflected light. The Qur'an rightly says it is a reflected light. If it is a guess, the chances that it will be correct is 1/2 and the probability that both the guesses i.e the earth is spherical and the light of the moon is reflected light is 1/30 x 1/2 = 1/60.

Why do Muslims generally regard science as being in conflict with their faith?

If you believe that the religion of Islam has all the answers to everything, then you don't need science. Either science is going to agree with Islam in which case it is superfluous, or it going to disagree in which case it is heretical. Either way, science loses. I should note that there is an effort by Muslims to create Islamic science, showing how science can be used to confirm the teachings of Islam. This is not unlike the Christian study of "creation science". In the end, everybody does want science on their side, but science must be subservient to religion, of you are a religious fanatic, as many people are.
