You are going to have to take it to a repair shop to have the computer hooked up to see what is going on. Sounds like it could be the O2 sensor or cad. convertor getting plugged. Good luck.
AnswerMine's been doing the same thing and the catalytic converter tested perfect. The computer shows the O2 sensor -- but there is no mechanical problem with that either. We think it's a faulty sensor and it's causing the car to shut down. Lately it's been going great! (Altho the mechanic said he awoke from a deep sleep one night and found he was thinking about this car and thought it might be cam or crank.) I still think it's just a faulty sensor. Does the car start up again after 15-20 minutes? Mine does. AnswerIt starts up again right after. I'm usually at a red-light when the car idles (?-is that the correct term?). So I have to put the car into park, turn off the engine for a split second then start it up again and I'm good to go again...well, until I get to another stoplight that is. Sigh...someone's offered to take a look at it today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Eeek! AnswerI had a friend that owns a 2001 ZX2 and they were having the same issues, I found a large air leak on the blower hoses that cause their car to have a rough idle and they die. I suggest you or a mechanic check the engine hoses for air leaks.Wiki User
