Some people certainly think so. Election advertisements waste millions of dollars that could be put to much better use, like medically treating the sick and helping the poor. The money does go back into the private economy (creates jobs and taxes), but the content needs to be regulated. The candidates have to many inconsistancies. There is no truth in the advertising...it serves no purpose, but to be a breeding ground for half truths and exagerations.
