Yes, because the technology has major advantages to the education system, and reduces much stress placed on Staff and Students. Why? Mobile phones with their many resources eg. stop watch, camera, calculator, in many cases; email, and other handy application, students will be able to apply themselves more cooperatively in class. There are disadvantages, however these, in ALL cases, are behavioural. With correct rules and expectations put in place, many of these so called 'disruptions' would be much less frequent then even on computers. The idea of mobile phones should be seen as such; the classroom is an environment, almost exactly the same as a business meeting, there is a level should be a level of respect between boss and employee, as a teacher and a student. as such, disrupting the meeting will result in the sack; disrupting the class WITHOUT reason, should result in an after school detention, and a letter home. The technology is available and easy to use; why not use it?
