That is about normal.
Just trace the large hoses that seem to be coming in or out of the radiator. You should find a small(3-5 inch) housing that usually has two bolts on top of it. This houses the disk like thermostat. Jason yugiidesigngroup.com yugii.com
follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator toward the engine. the housing that the hose attaches to holds the thermostat. it should look like a little elbow housing held down by two bolts. it'll be part of the water pump.
Best done when the engine is cool.. not right after a long drive.. Follow the top radiator hose to the thermostat housing (dome).. undo the 1/2 inch bolts lift off dome.. remove thermostat.. fit new thermostat and gasket as per instructions.. replace dome and bolt it tight.. check for leaks. If you still have a overheating problem replace the temperature sender unit which should be near the thermostat housing.. it looks like a big nut with a 2 wire plug in it.. :)
It depends on how you like your steak. For Medium try 4-5 minutes each side. For rare a little less, for well done a little more.
It is a little inch long slot by where the disk goes in.
it should be by your thermostat housing

Any GM engine only has 1 thermostat. On the 4 cyl, many people get confused as to its location. It is not in the upper radiator hose / housing on the engine. This looks like it should be ther, but it is not. It is actually on the back of the motor, under the exhaust manifold. Have had some people put a thermostat in the housing on the top that looks like it should have a thermostat. This caused overheating problems. TechJK ----------------------------------------------
Thermostat
A bad thermostat could be stuck open or stuck closed. Drop it in boiling water and it should open. Then close when cooled off.
Can't give you an exact price, but i just replaced the thermostat in my eclipse gt and it was like $20 for parts, assuming you do the install.
almost just about 1/2 inch, a little shy of a 1/2 inch.
