It is always wise to consider what the replacement would be if you ban something. Plastic forms a major part of almost everything we use in today's world - cars, electronics, paint, buildings. In addition the use of plastic containers saves a lot of transportation cost by minimizing the weight in trucks, trains and planes. Even the ubiquitous plastic bag and plastic wrap replaces the destruction of trees for paper and the pollution associated with paper manufacture.

A:Absolutely not! This would cost us so much additional fuel, in terms of heavier cars and planes. It would add to pollution through the extra use of glass and heavier materials. A:Wasting plastic is bad. Recycling is better. Reusing the bottle is best. A:Driving your vehicle longer saves on the amount of pollution. Don't trade your car in just because it is old. The worst portion of a car's pollution footprint comes from its creation. Buying a car because it is new is the worst thing you can do. Crushing a working car is terrible for the environment! Wasting plastic and throwing it away before it is used up is equally bad. A:Plastic is all around us and and plastic is cheaper than paper. If you want to replace all the plastic things in your room with wood it would kill about 1000 trees. A:We should ban plastics. Plastics can only hurt the environment. The only exception would be plastics made from food, such as corn, potatoes, rice husks, or any food with high-starch content because they are biodegradable. Plastics can be replaced with glass, ceramics, bamboo, cork, or PaperStone. (PaperStone is recycled paper combined with tree resins that produce a solid material. It feels like a cross between wood and slate)
