If the betta fish you just bought and took home does not eat does that mean the fish is sick?

If you just brought it home then no, as it needs time to settle in to it's new environment. Would you accept food from a starnge perosn in a strange place?? If your betta will not eat his food, you should make sure that you are feeding him the right food. Every other day you should feed him a bit more. They will get to eat a lot, Betta fish are like a pig when they eat their food. Your betta fish could be sick. They usually heal themselves over time.

Do betta fish grow depending on how big there home is?

No

What is the oldest Betta fish on record?

To the best of my knowledge no one keep those kind of records. Bettas are mature at 12 months, past their prime at 2 years old and ancient fish at 4 if they live that long. I have a Betta fish that is now over 5 years old because I change the water once a week with 2 gallons of purified water and I add about 20 drops of Splendid Betta Complete Water Conditioner to it. Using the water conditioner is a MUST to ensure that your Betta fish will live a very long life. I also feed my Betta fish 4 pellets of Hikari Betta Bio Gold once a day in the morning and 1 pellet at around 7pm.

If the Betta fish you just brought home isn't eating does the mean he is sick?

No, he is probably just not used to his new home. Feed him one flake or pellet the second day. If he eats it give him one or two more. If not, try again the third day.

Do betta fish live in coldwater or hotwater?

Betta fish are from Asia (unlike the common beleif they live in puddles, that is a mere MYTH) They are used to temperatures of 80 degrees F. or above BUT For a healthy fish in your own bowl (about 2 gallons for your fish... DO NOT use a smaller tank than 2 gallons) Bettas in your home should have water the temperature of at LEAST 75 Degrees F. to 79 degrees F., when breeding your fish it should be about 80 degrees F. But befor eyou do breed your fish Read up on it. --Amber the fish girl

Yes! Betta fish males can make bubble nests whether or not a female betta is present! Male bettas make nests when their home are in proper conditions and they are ready to breed.

What do you do if you are going on a vacation for a few month and you have 3 fish in a 2.5 gallon fish tank no filter in new Orleans?

You should probably find them a new home and when the time comes to have fish again, you should buy a bigger tank and a filter. Three fish cannot properly live and survive in a 2.5 gallon tank - this is not even safe for a betta

Will a goldfish eat a betta fish?

I believe that most gold fish eat betta pellet food. My two gold fishes at home eat that and they have been alive for quite a while. So you can try with your gold fish and see if they like it. But if you have gold fish food you should just give them that

You just got a male Betta fish yesterday It seems to just be staying on the bottom of the tank and not swimming around much Is something wrong?

When transferring a betta to a new home be sure to acclimate him SLOWLY to the new water by floating the temporary bag/cup in the new water to adjust the temp. Also, every ten minutes add some water from the new home to the old bag/cup so they Betta is not stressed over sudden changes in Ph or hardness. Treat tap water with chlorine/chloramine remover before adding the Betta to his new home. I like to feed newcomers about half an hour after transferring to a new home, just to make sure they "take" to their new water. Also, be selective when buying a fish from a pet store. Watch for signs of illness. Do not buy the fish if it looks sick or any other fish from that same batch look ill. If you do all this and the fish is still staying on the bottom, he just might be shy.
