In recent years getting fired from a job no longer carries the stigma it once did. Some employers routinely "fire" employees, especially those who are receiving a higher compensation, and are replaced by a lower-paid entry-level person whom the boss rationalizes can do the job just as well. If you are candid about the firing but emphasize the skills and experience acquired along with all the verifiable fabulous things you did for that employer you show you valued the position and experience. If the interviewer asks you if he/she can contact this employer for a reference you should be prepared to say "yes" or "no" with a brief explanation or qualifier if you're not sure what the employer will say about you.

∙ 16y agoYes. Your employer will usually look for reference and find out if you were fired so you should be the one that tells him or her. You should also explain why you got fired and tell that you feel you did or did not deserve to get fired. Then your employer will make the impression that you are honest and wont hide anything.
