Well I just replaced mine on my 1994 Econoline. Might be similar to an 88:
First remove the drivers side wiper arm. (Cock arm up at the spring joint. Pull out metal tab and wiggle arm upward.)
Next remove the drivers side of the window grill. (6-8 screws phillips.)
The motor is now exposed, remove the plastic drip strip and pull up the plastic sheet cover. (Pull up the sheet carefully so you can reuse it.)
Next disconnect two wiring harnesses connected to the motor. Next remove three mounting bolts.
Next reach under and remove the clip that connects the motor to the push rods.
That's it. Helps if you have really tiny hands. (I don't...)
The 1988 Jeep windshield wiper motor is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The wiper motor will be in the center of the firewall.
Its mounted on the washer pump/wiper motor.
under sterring column remove the 2 covers you will see 3 nuts and linkage remove and pull motor out from engine bay
it on the top left side of the wiper motor where the plug goes in
Broken or disconnected wiper transmission (linkage)?
when u turn wipers off they stay at up position. while in up position remove wiper arms from vehicle then place wiper arms at down position and renistall on wiper motor shaft. that should fix the problem
Could be the covering over the wiper motor.
The washer pump on a 1988 Monte is located in front (attached) of the wiper motor. Three Torx screws removes it. Tony E.
Remove motor mounts and raise motor approximately 4 inches.
If the wiper motor isn't working, check the fuse to start with, then the wiring connections. If the wiper motor is working but not the wiper arms, unscrew the cowl piece just behind the hood ( the part that looks like a grill ) and see if the little plastic inserts that hold the wiper arms in place have dry-rotted or not. They are available at your local dodge dealership and are pretty cheap.
No, but hear are the years that will work. 1988 to 1995 350 engines.
If you are standing at the front of the car, the module is located on the right side of the firewall by the windshield wiper motor....
