Irregardless of all the smoke being blown here there is only one country west of Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. That country is Portugal.

There are a number of countries that are west of Spain. The USA is one of them. Mexico is another. Bermuda is also west of Spain.
Of course, Portugal is on the west side of Spain. But Portugal doesn't occupy the whole of the western coastline. If you are in Vigo, Spain and want to get to Bragança in Portugal, you must go EAST!
In fact, if you look at a map which shows Spain and Portugal, and look at Vigo, which is the largest city of Galicia, Spain, on the Atlantic coast, and north of Portugal, and draw a line of longitude down from Vigo through Portugal, you will see that most of Portugal is actually EAST of that line!
If you have the time to follow Colombus' theory, then the USA, Mexico, and Bermuda are all EAST of Spain. I suppose all three are also northwest of Spain as well. It all depends on how many trips around the world you wish to make, and which direction you wish to travel.
