1998-2002 3GEN Outbacks it's above the glove box (Aus models its on left side of car above (and to left of) glove box)
Did the 1998 Subaru Legacy GLS come with a fob for the central locking and if so where can you get one?
I have a 1998 Legacy Outback LTD and have replace the fob sucessfully with one purchased on e-bay. Programming instuctions are available as well.

Why has your central locking locked itself permanently on your Subaru Forester?
Check the fuse, if this is Ok it is possible the mechanism has jammed OR the main switch (On the drivers side door) needs replacing. Try taking main switch out disconnecting it and then putting it back in, this might re-set it, if this doesn't fix the problem, you likely need a new main switch. (Check fuse first though)
