Can one assume that you mean the Highlands of Western Scotland? If so, they would probably have been Scots. The history books also show that they may have been called Borderlanders. Thanks. That suggests that they came either from the Scottish or the English side of the border, possibly from Cumbria (in England) or the the area of Sctland to the north of Carlisle. (Assuming, for the moment, that the 'western' reference is correct). The main hilly parts in those areas are1. the Lake District (but that is probably too far south) and2. practically the whole of southern Scotland between Gretna and Edinburgh.See if you can find some good maps of the area. The answer would be borderlanders.

No, but the ranges are similar.
The Appalachian Highlands are old, eroded mountains (the oldest in North America) ranging from eastern Canada to western Alabama
Rolling hills and low mountains.
Appalachian Highlands (Mountains)
Tennessee is in the Appalachian Region of the United States. It has three regions itself: The Great Smoky Mountains, the highlands, and the lowlands.
The Appalachian Mountains are located in the eastern United States. The Appalachian Mountains, mountains in Greenland and those in western Europe (the Scottish Highlands) have similar rock layers. This similarity in rock layers was noted by Alfred Wegener and used as evidence to support his hypothesis of continental drift.
Yes. The modern Appalachian Mountains are part of the remnants of a major mountain range on Pangaea. ADDED The rest of the remnants of the chain are the Scottish Highlands and the Norwegian mountains.
yes it is
The Appalachian mountains aren't in Ethipoia, whereas the Ethiopian higthlands very well might be. Their name would suggest this at least. The Appalachain mountains mare in the Eastern United States. I coulld see how one might get them confused though.

West Virginia gets it nickname from all its mountains and hills such as the Appalachian Mountains extend through the eastern portion of the state. West Virginia is called the Mountain State because much of it is in the mountainous terrain of the Appalachian Highlands.
