Can one assume that you mean the Highlands of Western Scotland? If so, they would probably have been Scots. The history books also show that they may have been called Borderlanders. Thanks. That suggests that they came either from the Scottish or the English side of the border, possibly from Cumbria (in England) or the the area of Sctland to the north of Carlisle. (Assuming, for the moment, that the 'western' reference is correct). The main hilly parts in those areas are
See if you can find some good maps of the area. The answer would be borderlanders.
Borderlanders.

Most immigrants coming to America prior to the 20th century were hoping to find freedom from religious persecution.Actually, the only real Americans are native American, so even though most 'Americans' complain about immigrants, if they go back to their ancestors, they are in fact immigrants too. So the fact that immigrants come-for whatever reason, it makes the country a better place (and sorta increases the popularity)
Actually they don't. It is the loudest people that seem to make it seem that way. This is a nation of immigrants and 70% of the population ancestors came as immigrants at one time. Other nations are more homogeneous and as a consequence don't have the variety of foods, music, traditions ( the Christmas tree is from Germany. Halloween pumpkins began in Ireland) and the only true people who aren't immigrants is Native Americans. Many of our industrialists and inventors were immigrants and Jackson's parents were Irish immigrants. This is truly a melting pot of people and we are very lucky because of it.
Ancestors of the Roman Empire live in Italy.
The first settlers in China were Indian immigrants. "The ancestors of the contemporary population of China, Japan and other East Asian countries had migrated from India, according to a research study conducted by a team of scientists from 10 Asian countries."

Both Native Americans and Spanish immigrants from Europe.
yes, because if you are American your ancestors probably immigrated here from Europe or somewhere else
Karlen Moodliyar (He is from South Africa and his ancestors are Indian immigrants)
The great majority of African-Americans were born in America and therefore are not immigrants. There ancestors were immigrants at some point, however, that is also true of everyone else in the western hemisphere. The human race originated in Africa.
Because the majority of the people in the US are either immigrants themselves or the descendants of immigrants. Only the Native Americans (aka American Indians) do not consider themselves descendants of immigrants, however all their ancestors did imigrate to America during the last ice age or shortly thereafter.
Every famous American except those with a Native American background.
they do NOT cost anything, they come to a country where they will work for minimum wage pay taxes, and do work that no one else will do, so the immigrants are a great asset to any country, all North Americans and Australians were immigrants once upon a time. all our ancestors were immigrants, the sooner we remember that, the better off we will all be.
In the 1800’s 12 million people came into the United States to Ellis Island. That means that 40% of people today ancestors landed at the center. With them came all the wonderful foods, music, inventions, philosophy, education, and cultures. In the civil war 60% of the men fighting were Irish immigrants and Andrew Jackson’s parents were Irish immigrants and he had lost his father and brother in the revolution. The United States culture is a combination of the immigrants who have come and raised families.
