If the compressor is not coming on at all it could be that you are low of refrigerant and just need to add some more.
on the passenger side of engine, below ac compressor. coming from bottom radiator hose.
If the fan is working, then probably there is insufficient gas in the ac compressor.
To make sure 100 percent you would need to have a set of gauges installed on both the high and low sides so that you can check the pressures coming from the compressor.....
The low pressure port in on the hose coming off of the compressor. It is just under the radiator support on the passenger side.
Should be on the larger hose coming from the compressor may be near the drier at the passenger side firewall
If it is working fine, and the noise is only when it is disengaged you should only need to change the clutch on the compressor not the entire compressor. If there is room to pull the clutch off on the truck, then there is no need to evacuate the refrigerant.

check to see if the evaporater is working or if its leaking, then check for leaks on ac lines going threw out ur engine bay
