The EGR valve and gas cap were both replaced Check engine light still on Will it go out by itself or do you need to have it reset?

It will reset itself if you corrected the problem that cause it to come on in the first place. If it does not go out after a few driving cycles, I suggest you stop throwing parts at the problem and take it to a professional for diagnosis and repair.
