The founding fathers felt it was important that government had specific and defined limitations so that it could not become too powerful and infringe on the rights of citizens. One of the ways they limited the power of government was by separating it into three different entities which all policed each other through different rights and responsibilities.
The founding fathers feared an all-powerful national government (as England had been). So in creating the Constitution they felt a need to balance power between three branched of government, each with specific, exclusive duties and powers.
Religion was kept out of the constitution but civic and public values were important to the Founding Fathers of the Constitution. The Founding Fathers were also strong advocates of republican values and felt that public virtue was important for the citizens of the nation.
Yes, it was important to the Founding Fathers to justify their actions by evoking traditional English rights. As English colonists, they felt they were deprived of these rights when Parliament passed laws without representation from the colonies. The Founding Fathers also did not want to provoke a radical reconstruction.
Because they felt that a republican government, being accountable to the people, would be most likely to protect indinidual rights and least likely to become tyrannical. The separation of powers is called Checks and Balances in the constitution. They are Articles number 1,2,& 3. You can see by the fact that they are 1,2,& 3 how important our founding fathers felt that not giving one branch of government too much power was. So you can see that this concept was originally created in the U.S. Constitution at the very beginning of the founding of our country. Famous Frenchman Montesquieu believed in separating the powers of government and having Checks and Balances. I am sorry I can not elaborate more on the question.
George Mason was truly one of the Founding Fathers. He penned the Virginia Constitution which later became a groundwork for the US Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights. George Mason did not sign the constitution because he felt it was inadequate in its control of government power. George Mason is considered one of the proprieters of Libertarianism.
they just felt like we didn't have enough law powered over the U.S.A
The monument on Rushmore was intended to honor presidents of the United States, not founding fathers. It just so happens, perhaps not coincidentally, that two of the men everybody agrees were among the greatest presidents, Washington and Jefferson, were also founding fathers. Everybody also agrees that Lincoln is one of the greatest presidents, certainly second only to Wshington and there are those who would rate him above Washington. As for Teddy Roosevelt, he may have seemed more important when the monument was being sculpted, in the 1930's, than he does now. Even then there were those who felt he was not important enough to be included with the other three but he was a cousin of Franklin Roosevelt who was president when the project was under way so what are you going to do? Michael Montagne Theodore Roosevelt is the backbone and founder of the national park system. Roosevelt was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to travel the country. That could be why he is on there.
He felt that it gave the government too much power. George Mason also opposed slavery and the constitution did not state anything against slavery in the US.
