Jehovah was the German translation of a Hebrew name for God - Yahweh (originally spelt 'YHWH'). The word Jehovah entered the English language from German in the nineteenth century and is now so well accepted that some believe it to have come direct from Hebrew. The name Yahweh is to be found in the Hebrew scriptures in parts of the Pentateuch written by the writer now known as the 'Yahwist'.
The Jewish Bible is called the Tanach. The word Tanach is an acronym made up of its three parts: Torah (Teachings), Nevi'im (Prophets), and K'tuvim (Writings).
The two parts of the Bible are the Old Testament and the New Testament.
There is no Hebrew word that means "Biblical". The Jewish scriptures are identified in Hebrew by an acronym: Tanakh (×ª× ×´×š) Which just stands for the three parts of the Hebrew Bible (Torah, Neviim, Ktuvim). In Modern Hebrew, you can take this acronym and turn it into an adjective: Tanachee (×ª× ×›×™). So a modern Hebrew phrase for Biblical children could be: baneem Tanacheem ( ×‘× ×™× ×ª× ×›×™×)
The Hebrew Bible (×ª× ×´×š) is divided into three parts. The second division is called the Prophets (× ×‘×™××™×).
Hebrew Bibles contain 24 books divided into 3 parts: The Torah, The Prohets, and the Writings. Christian Bibles contain 66 books, divided into 2 parts: The Old Testament (39 books) and the New Testament (27 books) (Christians subdivide many books that Jews do not subdivide).
The old and the new testament are the two parts that are components of the scriptures.
