The state doesn't support any particular religion so there is religious freedom. We don't have a state religion which means you don't have to go to a state church and your aren't punished or arrested for belonging to another religion.

This is why the "Separation of church and state" is part of our laws, the government did not want freedom from the church, but the church needed freedom from the government.
