The UN is dead Long live the UN?

Firstly I would like to tell about UN,United nation is an international organization that works for international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achieving world peace.

Currently 192 states are member of U.N. which is headquartered at Manhattan (New York City). U.N's most famous person i.e. general secretary is Ban ki-moon of South Korea who took over from Kofi Annan in 2007.

Mainly organization is divided in the following groups:

1. General assembly

2. Security council

3. Economic & social council

4. Secretariat

5.International court of justice.in The Netherlands

WHO,United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF),world bank,UFO etc. are come under this.

Coming on the topic I Would like to say that

The founders of the UN had envisaged that the organization would act to prevent conflicts between nations and make future wars impossible, however the outbreak of the Cold War(existed between US and USSR -Soviet Union, from mid 1940 to early 1990's.) made peacekeeping agreements extremely difficult due to the division of the world into hostile camps. Following the end of the Cold War, there were renewed calls for the UN to become the agency for achieving world peace, as there are several dozen ongoing conflicts that continue to rage around the globe.

All through the Cold War, the Soviet Union and the United States did as they pleased, while the UN looked on helplessly.

Disagreements in the Security Council about military action and intervention are seen as having failed:

1. in preventing 1994 Rwandan (Conutry of central Africa) genocide

It was happened in two tribes Tutsi and Hutu.This was kind of civil war.

2. failed to intervene in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre during the Bosnian war.

----The Srebrenica massacre is the largest massacre in Europe since World War II.

killing of an estimated 8,000 Bosniak men,

3. failure to deliver food to starving people in Somalia in 1994.there is crisis of economic and food crisis.

UN and US tried to solve conflict but somalains killed many of the military personnels.

4.failure to implement provisions of Security Council resolutions related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,there is conflict about temple wall to which palestenians want to destroy the holiest wall thaswhy conflicts is existing till now.that is just like India - Pak conflicts.

5. continuing failure to prevent genocide or provide assistance in Darfur----Al basheer (*I have doubt in name)

6.American invasion of Iraq in 2003.

7.Kosova conflict in Dec. 2007

UN was not in favour in independent new nation Kosova but US and EU were keen towadrs that so it happpened.

8.North Korean crisis: Nuclear weapons were stopped in NK by promising them to give heavy water technology but after that US refused to give.and conflict arised Bush send troops for war but some how by talk with Kim jong II (Dictator of NK) and UN it was avoided.

9. Cuban crisis(around 1950): This was 1st time then it was proved that UN is mainly conducted by US.

It was crisis in that Russia establised nuclear capable missile in Cuba and America already put missile in turky. There were almost conditions of war but by mediation of UN it was possible to avoid war.

That time Russia had removed their missiles from Cuba but it was suspected about removal of American missile from turky. So it was

come in picture that UN is maily governed by US.

In 2005, Bush appointed John R. Bolton to the position of Acting U.S. Ambassador to the UN; Bolton had made several statements critical of the UN,including saying, in 1994, "There is no such thing as the United Nations. There is only the international community, which can only be led by the only remaining superpower, which is the United States."

After the Cold War ended, the UN became the rubber stamp that legitimised US actions. Earlier, it refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol(The Kyoto Protocol is protocol to the international Framework Convention on Climate Change with the objective of reducing greenhouse gases in an effort to prevent anthropogenic climate change).

Today, it has ignored the UN. Are we sure that tomorrow it won't try to browbeat the World Trade Organisation?
