The First Section of the 14th Amendment "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." That's basically the jus soli, or the law of soil, aka being born on US soil makes you a citizen. We have that and jus sangris, the law of blood, where being the child of US citizens makes you a US citizen.

That's why the 14th amendment is such a big deal, it really enfranchises a lot more people, and while really done to make sure ex-slaves weren't denied citizenship and their rights, has really expanded equal protections of the law to so many people.

The 14th amendment is wonderful and amazing.
