The differences between the verbs ser and estar are the uses.
Ser is used for:
hour, day, and date
What time is it?
¿Qué hora es?
express places of origin (where someone is from)
I am from India.
Soy de India.
occupation (job)
She is a teacher.
Ella es una maestra.
nationality
My best friend is Cuban
Mi mejor amiga es Cubana.
possesion
It is Emily's
Es de Emily.
Estar is used for:
location
I am in the library.
Estoy en la biblioteca
expressing state
The tea is cold.
La taza está fría.
progressive verb
My parents are eating.
Mis parientes están comiendo.
