Do what I did, if they're old you'll need new anyway. Remove the tires and introduce percussive maintenance using a sledge. If they brake you'll need new anyway.
Depends on how old and how the older one was equipped
Most older Camrys have front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Each front wheel has a pair of brake pads that eventually wear out and have to be replaced; do not replace pads on only one wheel -- replace the pads on both wheels. Each rear wheel has a pair of brake 'shoes' that eventually wear out and have to be replaced; do not replace 'shoes' on only one wheel -- replace the 'shoes' on both wheels.
no they are bolted to the hub bearing it will be pretty much like doing a brake job on an older car.
No, what you're describing sounds more like a warped rotor. Sometimes a rotor will warp as it gets older. It's caused by heat.
the majority of cars do now but watch out the older it is the less likely it is to have them
Unless you are operating an older vehicle, the slacks should be automatic adjusters. However they still need checked for proper operation on a regular basis. I would suggest checking them every time you service your vehicle. Federal law says they must maintain proper adjustment at all times, and be inspected for operation annually.
Because rear brakes don’t steer and because in many older vehicles - the rear brakes are drum style brakes. Making it simpler (meaning less expensive) to hook a hand cable up to them to hold them activated. Note: they don’t HAVE to be on the rear. Some cars do have them on the front and some even have them on the driveshaft itself. Historically, it’s always just been easier for manufacturers to connect to the rear wheels. Simple as that.
No he Doesn't he is just old and is starting to get older so he might take a few brakes.
12 or older
basically they come off just like the front ones.Still get a service manual for that vehicle ($18.95) at autozone or advance.follow directions ,these are alot easier than the older rear drum brakes. HAVE FUN!
You should be 12 years or older to ride in the front seat.
A disc brake kit is used to convert an older automobile's drum brakes to disc brakes. Your 2001 Gallant already has disc brakes. It would not require the disc conversion kit. When you begin to hear your brakes squeaking it is time to take your car to the repair shop for new brake pads.
