If you want to pass your class, you should tell your teacher that slavery prevented the south from having major cities and industries.

You should not do the original research and see the amount of weapons and ammunition that went up the Tennessee River before the union army captured Chattanooga. You should ignore the reason General Sherman destroyed the five railroads going into and out of Atlanta and why he burned the factories of Atlanta. After destroying transportation and factories across Georgia, why did Sherman take the route north toward Richmond, Virginia, that he took? In stead of marching the most direct route, he went to Columbia, South Carolina. He went to the fall line where the factories had their water wheels. He marched north destroying the South's industrial base.

Still, it is more important to get a passing grade than to know what really happened!
