I would suspect bad wheel bearings. It can also be worn brake pads that you hear grinding, especially in a turn or while applying the brakes. If you find the brake pads are good, inspect the wheel bearings. Our 94 Pathfinder was making a noise when we sharp-turned right. Turned out to be the front right boot was broken. Hope this may help. Since 87-95 Pathfinders only came with auto hubs, the front axles do not spin when the transfer case is in 2WD. Therefore, having a broken boot would not cause any noise even when turning. Nice attempt though. -88pathoffroad

wheel bearing?
Bearings, cv shaft, or brakes.
If the "grinding noise" is present while cornering left and all but disappears when cornering right, my experience* says it's your right rear wheel bearings needing replaced. * My '96 did the exact same thing another thing to check is my exhaust pipe would rub the rear suspension on the passengers side and make an awful noise only when turning left and it would be worse with more weight in the car
it could be belt pulley rubbing on the timing belt cover or it could be the berries in the wheel but if its making grinding noise while ilding then def check your pulley make sure it isn't rubbing on anything or it could be the flywheel theres numbers of things to check over for the grinding noise

Sounds like that are usually due to a breaking wheel bearing.
I'd try changing tires, worked for me.
